At 14, I wanted to build a gaming computer. My parents had a simple answer: if you want it, go earn it yourself. So I went door to door through my neighborhood, knocking on strangers' doors and asking if there was anything I could do to make a few dollars.
Six months later, I had enough to build it. But something stuck with me. Going door to door worked. But it was inefficient and awkward, and honestly, I was doing work for neighbors who felt sorry for me, not people who genuinely needed help.
I knew there had to be a better way. A way to connect people who truly needed tasks done with people who genuinely wanted to work. Real pay, real accountability, none of the awkwardness.
That idea became Chores, and it sat for a while as a general, open-to-anyone version of exactly that. The harder problem turned out not to be the matching, but the trust: would a family really let an unverified stranger into their home to watch their kids, or trust a teenager they'd never met with their yard and their money? The version of Chores worth building had to solve that first.
That's what this is now: Chores runs inside school communities that license it. Students verify with a real school email, families join through their district, guardians can monitor their student's activity, and every job builds a real track record through reviews. Same original idea. Just built on a foundation that actually earns a family's trust, not just their download.
We're building the infrastructure for trusted local work inside school communities: matching, safety, and accountability, all built in from the start.
Whether you need help or want to earn, Chores is free to join. It takes less than two minutes to get started, if your school is licensed yet.
