Draft — not yet effective

Welcome to Chores, a community referral platform operated by Chores App LLC and licensed to participating school districts. By creating an account or participating in Chores, you agree to the terms of this Participant Agreement.

Participants under the age of 18 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

1. Definitions

  • Chores — The online platform operated by Chores App LLC that connects participating Families with Student Helpers.
  • District — A school district or similar institution that has licensed Chores for its community.

  • Family — A parent, guardian, or authorized adult requesting assistance through Chores.
  • Task — A request for age-appropriate assistance posted through Chores.
  • Referral Platform — A technology platform that introduces participants but does not employ, supervise, or direct the services performed.

2. Purpose

Chores exists to strengthen communities by connecting trusted student helpers with families seeking age-appropriate assistance, in partnership with each participating district.

Chores helps:

  • build workplace skills;

  • strengthen neighborhood connections; and
  • provide convenient access to student helpers.

3. Eligibility

  • Registration information is accurate and current.

4. Nature of the Platform

Chores is a referral platform only. Chores facilitates introductions and communication.

Chores does not:

  • employ Student Helpers;
  • supervise work;
  • direct services;

Families and Student Helpers independently determine whether to work together.

5. Independent Relationships

Families and Student Helpers independently determine:

  • whether to work together;
  • scheduling;
  • compensation;
  • transportation;
  • supervision;
  • cancellation;
  • completion of services.

Chores is not a party to these agreements.

6. Payments

Unless Chores announces otherwise:

  • Payments occur directly between Families and Student Helpers — by cash, Venmo, Zelle, or any method they agree upon.
  • Chores does not collect or distribute payments.
  • Chores is not responsible for payment disputes.

7. Participant Responsibilities

Participants agree to:

8. Prohibited Conduct

  • immediately report unsafe conditions;
  • decline opportunities that appear unsafe;
  • contact emergency services during emergencies.

10. Assumption of Risk

Participation in Chores is voluntary.

Participants understand that community activities involve ordinary risks, including but not limited to:

  • interactions with other participants;
  • accidental injury;
  • property damage.

Participants voluntarily assume these ordinary risks.

Parents and guardians remain responsible for determining whether participation is appropriate for their child. Families remain responsible for maintaining a reasonably safe environment.

11. Release & Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Participants release and hold harmless Chores App LLC, participating districts, and their respective sponsors, volunteers, directors, officers, employees, and agents from claims arising from participation in Chores or services arranged through the platform.

This release does not apply to claims arising from a released party's gross negligence, reckless conduct, intentional misconduct, or any liability that cannot legally be waived.
